The Clothes on Your Back Shouldn't End Up in Landfill
Share
Think about the last piece of clothing you threw away. Where did it go? In most cases, the answer is landfill or worse, incineration,. The global fashion industry generates an staggering amount of waste, and the vast majority of it is completely avoidable.
At Prospereco, we started this brand because we believe clothing can work differently. Every piece we make, including our tees, hoodies and accessories, is designed with its whole life in mind, not just the moment you buy it. That means thinking about where the materials come from, how things are made, and crucially, what happens when you're done with them.
That's what circular clothing means to us. And it's the foundation everything we do is built on.
The problem with how most clothes are made
Conventional fashion follows what's known as a linear model: take raw materials, make a product, sell it, and eventually it ends up as waste. This model has driven the industry for decades, and it's created a crisis.
Synthetic fabrics like polyester are derived from fossil fuels and can take hundreds of years to break down. Even natural fabrics, when blended with synthetics or treated with chemical dyes, become near impossible to recycle. Trends move faster than ever, encouraging people to buy more and wear things fewer times. And the environmental cost of all of this: the water, the chemicals, the carbon. It is enormous.
We're not interested in being part of that system. So we built something different.
How circular clothing actually works
A circular model keeps materials in use for as long as possible. Instead of a one-way journey from factory to bin, products are designed to come back: to be remade, repurposed, or recycled into something new.
Every Prospereco garment is made from GOTS-certified organic cotton, a natural material that, unlike synthetics, can genuinely re-enter the production cycle. When your hoodie, tee, or sweatshirt has reached the end of its life with you, you don't throw it away. You send it back.
Each piece comes with a label and a unique code. Scan it, send the item back, and receive credit towards your next purchase. The returned garment gets broken down and remade into new products using the same recovered material. Nothing wasted. Nothing lost.
Why organic cotton is the right foundation
Organic cotton isn't just a marketing term. GOTS certification (the Global Organic Textile Standard) is one of the most rigorous standards in the textile industry. It covers the entire supply chain, from the farming of the raw cotton through to the finished product sitting in your wardrobe.
That means no harmful pesticides or fertilisers in the field. No toxic chemicals in the processing. Renewable energy in production. Fair working conditions throughout. And a material that's genuinely biodegradable and recyclable, which is what makes the circular model possible in the first place.
It also means the clothes feel different. Organic cotton is softer, more breathable, and ages better than conventionally grown alternatives. Doing the right thing shouldn't feel like a compromise. With organic cotton, it genuinely does not.
Bristol made, but built for everywhere
Prospereco is a Bristol brand. We're proud of that. Bristol has a long history of independent thinking, environmental consciousness, and community-driven business, and those values run through everything we do.
But sustainable clothing shouldn't only be available to people who live near us. That's why every Prospereco delivery is carbon offset, so the environmental story holds up whether you're ordering from down the road or the other side of the world. Local values, global reach, guilt-free.
This is just the beginning
We're a young brand. Our range is growing: tees, hoodies, sweatshirts and accessories and every new product we add follows the same principles. Organic materials. Renewable energy. Carbon-offset delivery. Designed to come back.
We're not trying to be perfect overnight. But we are trying to build something that proves fashion doesn't have to cost the earth, literally. Every purchase you make with us is a small vote for a different kind of industry. And those votes add up.
Wear it. Return it. Start again.
